California Dreamin’ Pt. 3

Things to do in L.A.

We arrived in L.A.! The drive was quite long but we made it. We rented a house by Venice Beach, which was amazing! Once we settled in we decided to find a place Near by and grab some food. We came across Gjusta Bakery.

This place was super busy and a ton of people waiting for food. There were so many food choices; the menu had a great selection of breakfast dishes, pizzas, sandwiches, etc. I looked at all the delicious food that was being prepared behind the counter and I wanted one of everything.

Super cute packaging

After we enjoyed our sandwiches out on the patio we wanted to go out and explore L.A. and Venice Beach (not to mention walk off our sandwiches!).

Venice Beach was beautiful. So many people out and about, a nice sandy beach and a skateboarding park where we stopped and watched a big group of skateboarders having some fun. It was really nice to walk around and enjoy the views.

The next day we drove to Hollywood to check out the Hollywood sign and the Griffith Observatory.

There was so much to see and do in L.A. One place I would highly recommend to check out is Abbot Kinney Boulevard. There are so many shops and restaurants. We wanted to find a nice fine dining restaurant there but the one that caught our eye had a long wait but we were recommended to go next door, where the same restaurant had a handful of their best dishes on their menu, only difference was it had more casual seating, so we took a chance and checked it out.

Gjelina had some great food. We had a nice thin crust pizza (served with no cheese, which I really enjoyed because you can just taste the tomato and basil, it was perfect). We paired it off with a kale salad. Everything was awesome, and we didn’t mind sitting on some bar stools while we people watched.

Kale salad – it was so good!

While looking through my photos for this blog post, I cannot believe how many places we went to see, or food we ate. Here a few random photos of things that caught my eye that I wanted to snap a photo as we were walking around.

We had to check out another Ramen restaurant while in L.A. The chicken ramen was so good, you need to check out Venice Ramen. We really wanted to go back one last time before leaving, but we never found the time. I guess it’s a good excuse to come back to L.A. really soon.

What’s an L.A. trip without checking out Santa Monica Pier. I had such a good time here and looking back, I didn’t know how I managed to bike from Venice Beach all the way to Santa Monica Pier! Regardless of the long bike ride, it was a nice way to get there.

We stayed here until it got dark, we had too much fun 🙂

That’s a wrap! My California trip was amazing! I really enjoyed myself and California is on my list of travel destinations again, I still need to check out some wineries and go back to Abbot Kinney Boulevard to try a few more restaurants. I hope you enjoyed some of things to do in L.A.

Missed the rest of my trip? check out my visit to San Francisco, or the places I stopped en route to L.A.
