I can’t believe Christmas is just a couple of days away! This year has been such a wild ride. I often caught myself saying when will this year end? That is definitely not me, but to be honest I just want this year to wrap up and see what 2021 has to offer, I hope it will be a lot better.
I love Christmas. I love choosing the perfect gifts for my loved ones, spending time with them over a lovely Christmas meal, and getting all decked out for the occasion, because well…Christmas!
Although the holiday cheer is different this year, I still plan to dress up, apply some liquid eyeliner to these eyelids because they deserve some, and have my usual pantyhose struggle; avoiding a run in a newly purchased pair is sometimes a tad difficult!

The only question to ask myself is which dress should I choose for the occasion? Perhaps I will choose two, one for Christmas Eve, and one for Christmas Day. Why not get into the festive spirit regardless of what life has thrown at us in 2020.
I’ve rounded up some of my faves, my tried and true dresses. I normally shop at stores that have affordable holiday dresses that won’t break the bank. I purchased some a while back, but I’ve managed to share similar styles.
New to the Family
I’m in love with Dynamite’s Lara Ruched Bodycon Dress. The dress comes in black, red and green. There is also a faux leather version too. I had to choose the green one, it just spoke to me. I love the ruching in the front along with the shoulder pads which gives the dress a more structured look.

My Holiday Red Dress
My Wilfred dress was purchased from Aritzia a few years ago. I was running out of time and I was on the hunt for a Christmas gift on their website. I came across the dress; it was cute, affordable and I thought it would be a great addition to my holiday dresses, so I added it to my cart.

This dress is super comfortable and really forgiving. I browsed Aritzia’s website and couldn’t find any similar styles this year. However, I did come across the Coco Dress by Sunday Best. Aritzia has some really beautiful pieces, so it’s worth checking out. If you are looking for a dress that’s similar to mine, there is a great option from Zara.
Tried & True
The fit and flare velvet dress has been a staple in my wardrobe for quite some time.

Dynamite has some really pretty fit and flare dresses, which I shared a page full here. Zara has some gorgeous velvet dresses. The velvet dress with beading or the printed velvet dress are affordable holiday dresses, perfect for the season!
Comfort & Joy
A lot of us were lucky to have been working from home since mid March. I wanted to change up my work from home attire, because you can only own so many lounge sets in different colours before it starts to get boring and I was looking for a change. A sweater dress was something I did not have hanging in my closet.
For me, a sweater dress has to be comfortable, not too tight where it rides up, and one that could be easily dressed up or dressed down.

Dynamite’s Belted Wool-Blend Sweater Dress is what I ended up going with. I chose the colour Wine Tasting Red (I love the name!). I usually wear black leggings with it, or if I want to dress it up, I wear beige or black pantyhose. You could also choose a sparkly pair of pantyhose for a more festive look, maybe for your New Years celebration at home.
I hope I have inspired you to get into the Christmas spirit if you haven’t done so just yet. During difficult times like these, I think we should all do what we can to boost our mood, even if small tweaks are required. We need to keep doing things that brings us joy, especially during this year’s Holiday Season. Stay safe and see you in 2021!
