I have a soft spot for all kinds of Italian food. Maybe it’s because I have some Italian blood in me, or maybe it’s my love for a great tasting pizza, freshly made pasta, a decadent piece of tiramisu or a strong tasting espresso. Whatever the reason, I am all for Italian cuisine; whether at home or at a restaurant.
I was happy to try out an Italian restaurant in Guelph called Buon Gusto Restaurant. The restaurant has a great menu selection that consists of delicious wood fire pizzas, pasta and more.
My first experience dining with Buon Gusto was amazing, which made me want to go back a couple of months later, which I will be sharing both experiences in the same post.
During my first visit to the restaurant, I ordered two different cocktails, the Aperol Spritz and a Grapefruit Mojito. I always enjoy an Aperol Spritz, it’s for refreshing with the prosecco and the added basil and lemon was just so delicious.
The pasta dishes were really tasty. All the pastas are made in house and you can definitely tell. Both dishes had fresh ingredients that made them very flavourful.
When the dinner is that good, how do you say no to dessert? With my sweet tooth, it’s a little hard to decline.
My second visit to Buon Gusto I had to try their fire wood pizzas. The pizza menu had a great selection to choose from, which always makes it hard when trying to decide which one(s) to order.
The fig and prosciutto pizza was just perfect. The sweetness of the figs and saltiness of the prosciutto was a perfect combination that went so well together. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza is definitely a great pair when it comes to pizza toppings.
This visit I did not have room for a full dessert, if I am being truly honest. However, Buon Gusto’s homemade pizzelle was amazing the first time I tried it with the vanilla gelato, and this time I was able to enjoy it with my cappuccino.
Both visits to Buon Gusto was just perfect. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is perfect and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend checking out this Italian restaurant in Guelph when you’re looking for lunch or dinner options in the area.
