Niagara-on-the-Lake

A couple of weeks ago I spent my Sunday on a double date biking around Niagara-on-the-Lake. The weather was beautiful, a perfect day for a nice bike ride, definitely a Sunday Funday.

As some of you may know a drive to Niagara Falls during the summer months  could go one of two ways. If you leave early enough you may not have to deal with traffic, if you leave in the afternoon (like we did) expect a couple hours delay to your destination.

Upon our arrival we decided we should fuel up before we start biking around town. We had a nice lunch and a view at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club.

Since we arrived late, it was difficult to find parking. After lunch we walked back to the car to get our bikes. I really enjoy walking around. All the beautiful homes to look at, the water is near by and everyone is out and about enjoying the summer afternoon too.

DSC01622Another bike break. This shop had all Ontario grown fruits and vegetables, fresh baked pies, jams, ice cream and maple syrup.

DSC01626When August arrives, I look forward to buying peaches for the rest of the month (or until Ontario peaches are no longer available in grocery stores) but I have never tried peach pie. I was tempted to try one that day but I had nowhere to keep one of these delicious pies on my bike for later.

DSC01642.JPGWe ended back where we started and just in time to see Le Dînner en Blanc. None of us knew what was going on at first. It was really cool to see the street closed and everyone dressed in white. Luckily we found something on social media to keep us in the loop.

After we parted ways with our friends, my boyfriend and I decided it was too early to head back home and decided to keep on bike riding to enjoy more of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

DSC01660We managed to catch the beautiful sunset. Perfect ending to our Sunday.

DSC01665The Prince of Wales hotel is so pretty lit up. I always wanted to stay here for a weekend getaway. Maybe next summer we’ll plan a full weekend here and really enjoy what Niagara-on-the-Lake has to offer!
